In 2007, David led a group of volunteers to create FIGMENT, a new annual participatory arts festival that takes place on Governors Island in New York Harbor. The festival has grown dramatically, and in 2011 brought nearly 20,000 participants, and over 400 arts projects to the island. FIGMENT has also created a season-long exhibition on the island, which includes 16 large-scale interactive sculptures and a free 18-hole artist designed minigolf course. In 2010, FIGMENT added an event in Boston, and in 2011, FIGMENT also added events in Detroit, Michigan, and Jackson, Mississippi. More events will very likely be added in 2012.
